appreciate the info thicks, im not a big trophy hunter, i was just looking for something within an hour drive of mckinney tx to harvest a doe or small buck, any hogs would just be gravy on top.is this something you think i could accomplish at the lake. thanks again--bowhunter 1

The type 2 land north of Quinlan would be the best place for this. It doesnt hurt to scout it out now as long as you have your permit. Smiley

to all who have read this post, i have done some research and found that it would be worth a hunters while to make the trip to caddo national grassland or a little further east to pat mayse to hunt, the abundance to deer and hog is much greater from what i heard and if you hunt the weekdays, less traffic. i think i am going to shoot for caddo national grassland. any input on the matter would be appreciated--good luck to all this year--bowhunter1

I killed a spike with my bow last weekend, but it was near Sam Rayburn.  It was my first kill with a bow ever.
