Why do women wear evening gowns to nightclubs? Shouldn't they be wearing nightgowns?

II. Editor's Corner

Allow me to be the first to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving! I certainly hope everyone made it through All Hollows Eve with no undue incidents.

In last months newsletter I said that I hadn't yet seen the winter slow down that I was told to expect. Well, it has come and our traffic is down a bit. Can't say that I'm happy about it, but it does give me the chance to catch up on a few things that I've been meaning to work on.

If you missed it last month, you can still find the info on the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's "FISH TEXAS" promotion in the fishing headlines section of the site. You can take the link below to view it. It is a great promotion to get even more people involved in angling, and I am all for that! Fishing Headlines

Thank you all for making a success. please tell your friends and co-workers about us. We will be doing a major push to have the site tuned up and ready to go for the spring fishing frenzy. I hope you continue to come back often to enjoy all that our site has to offer.

Why do croutons come in airtight packages? It's just stale bread to begin with.

IV. Baitshop

Monthly Special

This is the last month that the current baitshop will be around. We are just beta testing the new incarnation of the baitshop. The new baitshop is not framed based, allows for easy navigation, does not require your browser to accept cookies, and has a secure connection allowing us to (finally) accept credit cards. It'll be up by mid January at the latest. But please, don't let that stop you from visiting the current baitshop and catching some fish!

Every month - as determined by the issuance of the newsletter - we'll be running a baitshop special. All you need to do is put the words "newsletter special" in the comment section of the order form, and this month you will receive two for one "Rusty's Crawdads" Do not, repeat, DO NOT, include the bonus amount in the order box on the crawdad page - ie. If you want 2 bags of crawdads, you should order 1, if you order two, you will receive 4, see. This newsletter special will be included for free with your order because of your entry in the comment field.

So, come on! Buy some bait and hit the lake! Rusty's baits are easy to use and they catch fish. Find the whole line of Rusty's Baits and Lures at:

As always your comments are needed and welcome. So if you'd like to give us some input on the baitshop, please feel free to e-mail us and speak your mind.

Tip of the month:

New monthly feature! Fishing tips from fishing guide Gene Snider. You will also be able to find all of Gene's tips in the fishing tips pages of

November 1999

Jigging spoon's, slab's and little George type bait's (tail spinner's) are not only great baits for stripers but also catch their far share of black bass. These baits work year round but are at their best during fall and winter fishing in deep water. One of my favorite way's to fish these bait's is by almost not fishing them at all.

Try this the next time your out and the fish are there but not hitting. Instead of the usual manner of jerking your bait off the bottom and letting it fall back try just barely lifting it off the bottom and setting it back down on the bottom slowly. Experiment lifting it at different heights and rate of fall until you find the one that the fish like.

Good luck and good fishing.
